Challenge Grid forces students to recall content from the previous lesson to earlier in the course. More points are awarded for answering questions from way back than the previous lesson.
This serves to give students feedback on what content they need to be revisiting in their personal study time.

1 die, 1 pen is an activity that requires students to retrieve subject content against the roll of a die. It encourages students to work quickly but more importantly gives them feedback about content that they do not know.
The rules and an example set of questions can be found below.

There is a link below to a blog post that explains ways that an app called Word Foto can be used. If you don’t have an iPad and would like to me to make one for you, just send me a picture and up to 10 keywords. It takes minutes. Below is one that I am using tomorrow.
This tip was shared back in May and is something I stole from a teacher on twitter. Students watched a slow motion clip of a javelin thrower and prepared a voice over to share with a partner. The voice over included an analysis of muscles contracting/relaxing and also some analysis of the technique to link to our practical work. I am sure something similar could be used in other subjects in some way. Please do share an idea if you have done this or something similar before. Powerpoint attached.
For those using One Note, I am preparing something similar for them to complete in the collaboration space where they will record their voice over on the device directly to One Note. If you are interested in One Note and want a mini session, get in touch.

Attached are some templates that I have prepared for Year 11 back in April that you may be able to adapt for your subject.
Tic Tac Know
A noughts and crosses style activity where students have to link three keywords from a topic together. Then they will try to think of keywords for another topic with the challenge being where to place them on the grid.
I have shared the original version of board rush before which I found extremely effective, see here http://wp.aggs.trafford.sch.uk/teachingandlearning/category/teaching-tips/page/2/
On this version I have written an answer and in pairs students are going to write as many questions that they can think of on post it notes and stick them on the board. They will get a point per question.
12 Minute Recall
A clock style template which could be adapted for a wide range of things.

Attached is a teaching tip sent to me by Helen and here is how she is going to be using it:
I am printing out to A3 size and each table will take a different section. The second slide I have given a few examples to show to the students. This is used to make links, consolidate understanding and for revision purposes as they have to compare and contrast the poems.
Attached is a resource that I have used with my Year 11’s.
There is a master template I created for your use. I have copied the slides into a word document and I will be giving them an A3 copy to write on. I am going to have them do it in blue/black and then add to it in red where they have gaps in knowledge so that I can address these.
