Year 11 Top Trader Enterprise Day

On 26th September Year 11 took part in a Top Trader day trading in stocks and shares on the AGGS Stock Market. The day was delivered and run by employees of BNY (Bank of New York) Mellon. Trading was tough and highly competitive as the students worked in teams taking risks to make as much money as they possibly could before trading ended. There was plenty of deliberation and important decision making to be made especially when the share prices of Gold and Greggs went up! They learnt how an investment bank differs from the High Street bank and experienced how the stock market actually works. Year 11 enjoyed hearing about the employees’ particular job roles within BNY Mellon and the day helped to develop skills such as team work, problem solving, communication and initiative and enterprise.

Y12 Work Experience

Year 12 have just completed their week’s work experience in industry. Work experience placements serve multiple purposes, including experience of the world of work, employability skill development and experience to help guide future career decision-making.

Some of the companies who hosted Y12 were HSBC Bank, BNY Mellon, NHS, Unilever and UKFast. We have received some excellent employer feedback commenting on their punctuality, reliability and keenness to learn more about the company. The students faced new challenges and learnt things about themselves that they didn’t know before.
