On Tuesday 14th January the Year 9’s took part in The Ryman National Enterprise Challenge whose ambassador is Theo Paphitis! The challenge this year was set by their sponsors UCFB (University Campus of Football and Business), which was to create an event to take place in either school or the community to promote more women/girls into football. The UCFB want to double the amount of women footballers by 2020!
By taking part in this Challenge not only did the students enjoy the experience but also gained skills in creativity, management, entrepreneurship, problem solving, leadership, communication and team work, all attributes which are essential in today’s world.
As you would expect, all the groups came up with exceptional ideas and it was very hard to judge. Unfortunately, there could only be one winning team and that was ‘TogetHER’ from 9-5 which was made up of Alishba, Imogen, Angelina, Lauren and Rachel. Their event, to be sponsored by Altrincham Football Club, was to hold a tournament of football matches in parks for girls aged under 18 years within the Greater Manchester area. They presented their idea with a very catchy rap and slogan – ‘Park the Stereotype!’
‘TogetHER’ will now go onto the National Finals at Wembley in July to compete against over 250 schools.
We wish them the best of luck.
