Grace S from Y9 represented Team England at the Dance World Cup Finals held in Braga, Portugal last week, which held over 10 days with finalists from 62 countries competing in multiple dance genres.
Grace has moved up an age category so knew that the competition would be especially tough competing as one of the youngest in her category. She returned home with 5 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze medal. These were across ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern and show dance – solo, trio, quartet and group. Together with her team, she was able to score points that helped Team England become overall World Champions!
A highlight from the event would be Grace winning gold in her contemporary solo against 27 of the world’s best dancers! Her winning score of 99.2% won her gold, an invitation to perform at the Gala and a special prize of a full scholarship to attend a summer school at Verona Ballet along side two other scholarships for masterclasses in London and Madrid.
Well done Grace, this is a fantastic achievement!
