AGGS Music Festival 2018

Music-Festival---Ensembles-(3)On Wednesday 17th October, AGGS hosted its fourth annual Music Festival. Players of all instruments and standards came together in celebration of some fantastic music. We were delighted to welcome music teachers Mrs Helen Bray from Loreto Grammar and Mrs Gillian Sargent from Withington Girls. They adjudicated the competition, giving performers individual feedback as well as general feedback at the end of each class. They were also responsible for awarding a winner and runner up for each class, which often proved quite difficult due to the quality of so many of the performers.

Music-Festival-Voice-3-(12)A particular treat this year was the introduction of staff performers in several of the categories. Students were able to enjoy some excellent pieces from Mr Hodgson on guitar, Mr Gough on clarinet, a piano duet by Mrs Crowson and Mrs Stokes, and songs from Mr Adshead, Mr Copestake and Mrs Hulme.

In addition to thanking student and staff performers, Ms Mayall said: “Thanks also to everyone who helped this event run smoothly: Mrs Butt, Miss Wright, Mrs Walker (adjudicator assistants), Mrs Brennan (reprographics) and Mrs Bentall and Mrs Dickinson (accompanists), and our parent stewards, with whom we couldn’t have managed.”
