Words of the Week – L

Year 7: Logic- a particular way of thinking, especially one that is reasonable and based on good judgement. ‘I fail to see the logic behind his argument.’

Year 8: Liberal- willing to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one’s own; open to new ideas. “liberal views towards divorce”

Year 9: Levy- impose (a tax, fee, or fine). “a tax of two per cent was levied on all cargoes”

Year 10: Libel- a published false statement that is damaging to a person’s reputation; a written defamation. “he was found guilty of a libel on a Liverpool inspector of taxes”

Year 11: Legitimacy- able to be defended with logic or justification; valid. “a legitimate excuse for being late”

Year 12: Legislation- the process of making or enacting laws. “it will require legislation to change this situation”

Year 13: Lethargic- affected by lethargy; sluggish and apathetic. “I felt tired and a little lethargic
