We entered two teams in this competition to give more girls a chance of playing tournament hockey.

The ‘B’ team came 4th in their section of 5 and by no means disgraced themselves with 1 win and 1 draw and 2 losses. They were one of only two ‘B’ teams in the competition.

The ‘A’ team won 3 matches and lost 1 in their section. We thought we had blown it and had finished runners up to Manchester High School, but we had forgotten that Manchester High School had lost their opening match against Stockport Grammar  School, whom we beat.

We were therefore level on points with Manchester High but we went through as section winners with a superior goal difference. We were +7 and Manchester High were +3.

The semi final was against Withington Girls’ School, which we won 2-0.

The final was against Cheadle Hulme School who were very strong. Our team played very well and lost 1-0, which was a very good result.

With Cheadle Hulme School we now qualify for the North West semi-finals of this competition.

Well done girls for such an achievement. You are the third team from AGGS to reach the North West semi-finals of the National Schools’ Hockey Competitions this season.
