Washington & New York – Photographs

We want everyone on the trip to have an exciting and enjoyable time. For many (staff included) this will be the first visit to Washington and New York.

We understand that you will want to take photographs. But we ask that you respect the following;

  • Do not take photographs of staff, without their permission. Even if they agree to one photo, they might not agree to another. Please check regularly.
  • Do not take photographs of other students, with the intention of posting to social media, without their prior permission.
  • If staff are taking their own photos, please understand that they may not wish to have students on these and may ask you to step to one side whilst the photo is being taken. No staff member will take photographs of students for their own use or for social media.
  • All photographs taken with students will be for school use only, and we will check photo permissions of all students before publishing to this blog, or to the school website.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Washington & New York – One week to go!

Hello all,

One week before we leave, we felt it worth reminding you of a few things;

  • Please make sure you have read the student handbook we have provided and that you have signed the code of conduct pages. Please bring the handbook with you on the trip.
  • You are expected at Manchester Airport, Terminal 1, by 7.30am. Staff are hoping to be there from 7.15am.
  • Do NOT forget your passport!
  • Check your packing carefully – do you really need five pairs of shoes? (Mr Copestake would say ‘yes’, but even he won’t be taking that many pairs.)
  • Remember that you will need a bag to carry around daily, and use as hand luggage on the plane. We recommend a rucksack.
  • Check carefully the items you are allowed to take on the plane in your hand luggage. Restricted items will need to go in your suitcase.

Washington & New York – Apps / Pre-Reading

The following locations we are visiting have FREE specific apps you can download to get the most out of your tour. We recommend doing this before we leave for America and on WiFi as they all require additional downloads once the app is opened;

  • US Capitol Rotunda
  • US Capitol Visitor Center Guide
  • Smithsonian Mobile
  • National Mall App
  • Statue of Liberty and the Ellis Island
  • Official Empire State Building Guide
  • UN Visitor Centre – NY
