Having qualified last month at the Greater Manchester Schools Championships, Emma S in Year 10 competed at the English Schools Track & Field Championships at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham on the 13-14th of July, representing Greater Manchester. She competed against the most talented athletes from around the country in triple jump. In calm, warm conditions she jumped an impressive distance of 10m74 to come 10th in England even though she is only in the younger year of the U17 age group !
She travelled down by coach with the Greater Manchester team on the Thursday and stayed away in a hotel with the team for two nights. She had an amazing time and I’m sure it’s an experience she won’t forget and is hoping to qualify again next year! We are very proud of Emma’s achievement in this national competition and look forward to hearing of her continued success in the future!

Congratulations to the Year 9 and 10 students who qualified for the Regional A final of the prestigious English Schools Track and Field Cup. We were winners at Greater Manchester level and went to Robin Park, Wigan to compete against the best schools across the North West for a place at national finals in Gateshead.
The team were amazing in both the track and the field events with some superb performance and PB’s set. We finished second place narrowly missing out on a place in the finals. It is fair to say we were all truly devastated at being so close to that first place spot.
I am extremely proud of the team and the way they handled the whole situation, they are amazing athletes in their physical performance but also their manner and sportsmanship. Well done my team!
Last weekend Francesca won the National U20 Championship in the 1500m and is officially the best in Britain! We are waiting news this weekend that she has achieved the time required to qualify for the World Championships . What amazing news, we are very proud of you Francesca!

Francesca in Year 13 has had the amazing opportunity to represent England at the ISF World Schools Cross Country Championships in Paris on April 4th 2018. She was one of ten athletes selected to travel to France to compete in the team and individual event.
The race took place on a fast and rather flat route under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. Francesca was England’s individual star of the English Schools’ AA team and won a bronze medal behind Ella Heeney of Australia in the U18 Girls’ race! What a magnificent achievement.
