Interested in a career in medicine? The Leeds School of Medicine Summer School is delivered by current medical students. Each day focuses on a topic ranging from paediatrics, primary care and public health, to basic life support, acute medicine, cancer care and end of life decisions. The diverse and important range of subjects are taught using case discussions and actively involves students through task based learning. Key aims of the event are to develop transferable skills such as self-directed learning, presentation skills and to also provide information to enable students to make an informed decision about whether or not to pursue a career in medicine.

Students who attended last year reported a greater awareness and insight into medicine and an increased commitment to studying medicine. This was reflected in the vibrant atmosphere and student engagement throughout the week.
