Corpus Christi College Philosophy Essay Prize and Taster Day
On February 14th 2017 Corpus Christi College will be holding a Philosophy Study Day for state school students, aiming to introduce various areas of philosophy to interested Year 12 students. The day will be led by Dr Anna Marmadoro and will involve students completing an essay task entry in advance. The day will include a lecture and a number of introductory seminars to help students think about different areas of a subject they may not have encountered in depth before. Lunch will be included, as will a chance to meet current undergraduates. The day is entirely free of charge, and some help may be available with transport costs. The event will begin at 10.15am (registration from 10am) and conclude by 3.30pm. Full information can be found on our website at: http://www.ccc.ox.ac.uk/Philosophy-Study-Day/. Any queries can be sent to Brendan Shepherd via firstname.lastname@example.org.”
We would like to draw your attention to an exciting new modern languages opportunity at The University of Nottingham, which may be of interest to Year 12 language students at your school.
The High Achievers’ Summer School is a valuable experience for Year 12 students interested in studying modern languages at university. This new programme aims to give students a taste of studying at university level and will also provide helpful information on the UCAS application process. The Summer School is free and will be running from Sunday 2 – Wednesday 5 July 2017. Accommodation and meals will provided for the duration of the programme.
The High Achievers’ Summer School is particularly worthwhile for students interested in studying modern languages at The University of Nottingham. Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded a certificate of completion. They will also be made an unconditional offer to study here if they apply to one of 20 courses offered by our School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies and make us their firm choice on their UCAS application.
The Summer School is open to applications from Year 12 students studying throughout the UK. Students must also:
- be under the age of 18 at the start of the Summer School
- have eight GCSEs at grade A or above
- be taking French, Spanish or German A level (some of the programme will be delivered in the target language)
- be able to provide a suitable teacher’s reference
Applications are now open and the deadline to apply is Friday 17th March 2017. Students can submit their application through our online application form.
If this opportunity would be of interest to any of your students, please direct them to the High Achievers’ Summer School web page where they can read more about the programme and how to apply.
If you or any of your students have any questions, please contact the Summer School team on 0115 7486443 or email us at email@example.com.
Following the success of our Women in Engineering events last year, we are running more events this year and next. You can book just a few places or fill the whole day.
Students will have the opportunity to work with senior female staff from within the business to explore their roles and career paths. Through the day they will look at how their own skills can be applied and developed to engineering careers and the opportunities that this will present. We challenge and change perceptions of the role of women in engineering and encourage young women to consider engineering and manufacturing professions and their progression routes.
