athletics cakes
yum – thanks Mrs S.

As it was Emma Simpson’s birthday – her mum very kindly baked us some speciality cakes!!!  And they were delicious.

There were some pleasing results all round.

sprint start Victoria

A flying start for Victoria and Assante, put Victoria in 2nd place (13.3s) and a personal best time for Assante (13.4s).

Amy Jackson TJ
Amy won the Triple Jump (9.94m)

A great achievement for the AGGS athletes to get both teams to the A Final, competing against the best teams from Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cumbria, Merseyside and Cheshire.

The Inters finished 9th overall, but scored more points than in the qualifying County round.  The Juniors finished in 6th place.

Well done – a very enjoyable, successful day.

Year 8 Tennis v Loreto Grammar School

Congratulation to the year 8 teams for their results in this friendly match.

Team 1 won by 38 games to 14

Team 2 won by 36 games to 20

16 girls played in all. Aimee (8-4) was playing in her first tennis match for school and Abasiofon (8-3) was playing in her first ever match for school in any sport. It was great to see son many girls playing some very good tennis.

Year 9 Trafford Schools Rounders

Year 9 Trafford Schools’ Tournament

Beat Flixton 9 1/2 – 5
Beat Ashton 8 – 1 1/2
Lost to Urmston 2 1/2 – 3
Beat ACA  6 1/2 – 3
Beat Wellington  6 1/2 -5 1/2

Disappointing to lose to Urmston in the first match which cost us a place in the Final.  Unusually, there wasn’t a semi-final – had there been we would have been in it and I feel sure we could have progressed to the final and won, because the team settled after the first match and played some very good rounders.

U15 Team Tennis

The U15 team played a fantastic game against Wilmslow High School yesterday in he Cheshire final of the NationalTeam Tennis competition. They lost 4-2 against a very strong team which included 3 Cheshire county players. The girls played some fantastic rallies. The standard of tennis was amazing. Well done girls. You played really well.
