The year 7tounders team had qualified for the Trafford League finals from previous success.
The finals were to comprise of the 4 winning area teams in Trafford. Unfortunately only one other team turned up to play, Sale High School. In the match, which involved playing several innings, the girls played some excellent rounders displaying some very good batting and fielding skills and won the game by 19 rounders to 5.
Well done to Evie and her team : Suzanne, Georgia, Maddie, Livvi, Ava, Zofia, Daisy, Katie, Phoebe and Rosa. They each won a medal and the team won the winners trophy.
A team of very competitive staff took on the year 10 rounders team at lunchtime. It was a great match with some excellent batting and fielding. Mrs Clutton took some very good catches and Mr Carr now understands how important it is to get the ball back to him as bowler so runners cannot run on to score a rounder!!!!!!
The men were so competitive – the year 10’s didn’t stand a chance!!!!
Even so the year 10’s battled well to lose the match by 6 rounders to 6 1/2. Hard luck year 10’s – perhaps you might win next time!!!!!
Well done to the Year 10 rounders team who played some great rounders in the Trafford tournament. They were unbeaten in the group stages with the following results:
Stretford GS won 11 and a half – 2
Urmston B won 6 – 1 and a half
BTH won 9 – 3
St Antony’s won 7 and a half – 6
They went through to play Ashton in the semi-final and won 4 and a half to 2 rounders but struggled a little in the final against Urmston A. They batted first scoring 5 rounders but couldn’t quite manage to field the deep balls that Urmston hit. Nevertheless it was a great evening of rounders and the girls thoroughly enjoyed it!
Year 9+10 teams played against Wilmslow this evening. Year 9 won 13 – 6 1/2 while year 10 narrowly lost 11 – 12 1/2. Some excellent fielding and batting from both teams. Looking good for Trafford Schools’ tournaments – year 10s is next Tuesday.
A great start to the rounders season with a clean sweep of wins for years 7, 8 and 9 against tough opposition. Year 9 team won 5 1/2-5 and year 8 won 7-6. Particularly well done to the year 7 team who came from behind to win in the second innings, 9 1/2-7. Next matches are next Monday for Year 7+8.
Congratulations to year 7+8 rounders teams – both won their matches in the Trafford Schools’ League Finals. The year 7 are double champions as the won the Trafford Schools’ tournament last week! Well done – some excellent batting and fielding from both teams and a great finish to the season.
Congratulations to the Year 7 + 8 rounders teams who both beat Wellington school to reach the finals of the Trafford Schools’ League.
Year 7 won 22 1/2 – 6

Year 9 Trafford Schools’ Tournament

Beat Ashton 8 – 1 1/2
Lost to Urmston 2 1/2 – 3
Beat ACA 6 1/2 – 3
Beat Wellington 6 1/2 -5 1/2
Disappointing to lose to Urmston in the first match which cost us a place in the Final. Unusually, there wasn’t a semi-final – had there been we would have been in it and I feel sure we could have progressed to the final and won, because the team settled after the first match and played some very good rounders.
