We arrived with high spirits and played Sedbergh and won 3-0, keeping most of the possession throughout the game. The goal scorers were Jenny (2) and Laurie (1). Then we had no time to rest and played Merchant Taylor and the final score was also 3-0. We were capable of a scoring more goals but we didn’t play as good as we have done before. So we won our group and our next match was to play Kings Macclesfield and the team fought but unfortunately we lost 1-0. It was a very tight game which could’ve gone either way. Well played everyone, maybe next year!!!

Saturday 23rd September 2017.
This weekend AGGS hosted AKS Lytham at the Devisdale pitches. Games were played by the 1stX1, U15s, U14s, and U13s A and B sides. The U12s also had their first ever game which saw the arrival of some new talented players to the AGGS school squad. The weather was much kinder this weekend than it has been the past few weeks which also brought out more parental side line support. There were lots of goals, lots of cheers and smiling faces after a successful morning. A special thank you goes to all the mums/dads who helped to umpire.
U15s Match report by M.,Wardell.
After an effective warm-up and the unveiling of the new captains(Congratulations to Emma and Rosie!!) we had a solid first half performance with two great goals by Freya and Aude. Continuing the positive vibe during the second half we transferred the ball even more effectively and applied a much harder press. This resulted in two more fantastic goals by Emma and Annie. The match ended AGGS 4 Arnold King School 0. The other team chose Ruby Burgess as our man of the match. Thank you to Mr Wardell for umpiring.
U13s A match report by A.Platt
The sky was a foreboding grey, but our Year 8 Team shone like the sun. Winning 2-0 to Arnold Queen Mary School, the whole team ran a marathon up and down the pitch, with some good transfers by the defenders: Immy (C), Georgia, Abbie (VC) and Riya. Both goals were scored in the first half; the first was scored by Daisy and assisted by Hattie, and the second by Liv, who ran from the half way line into the goal circle to secure the goal. Kirsten had some great shots at goal, but the opposition’s defence was strong. A short corner was granted for the opposition, but Daisy swooped in and tackled the ball off them in the goal circle before they could take a shot at goal. Ella demonstrated some good skill as she rolled the ball out away from the opposition, and Rosa did some good running as she drove the ball up into their goal circle several times! The Man of the Match (as voted by the other team) was Liv.
U13s B Match report by L.Brazewell.
This was the first U13s B team 8 a-side match which delivered an excellent performance from the team scoring 5 goals against the opposition, AKS. Maddie scored 4 goals and Elena scored 1. We played as a strong team and everyone in the squad of 12 played their part. Maddie was voted man of the match by the opposition. It was a good result for AGGS.
Saturday 16th September

Saturday 9th September
This Saturday was the first weekend of matches and AGGS hosted Newcastle Under Lyme at the devisdale pitches. The weather was rather wet, but the constant down pour didn’t dampen the girls spirits and all teams came off the pitch as winners. Matches were played by the 1stX1, U15s, U14s and U13s.
U14s Match report by R.Driscoll
Year 9’s Super start to the season…..
Whilst the rain may have been pouring down it did not affect the great performance of our super Year 9 Team. Winning 8-0 against Newcastle under Lyme. The whole team played with great fluidity and all played their part in the win. GK Emily may not had a chance to touch the ball, but her vocal chords had a great work out. The scorers were Alicia (2), Oliva (2), Laurie (3) and Charlotte (1). The Man of the match voted by the opposition was Roisin D.
