The senior sports dinner was another resounding success with a great number of girls attending to receive the colours and awards in the major winter sports. Thank you to Mrs O’Neal for the superb organisation of the evening, to parents and staff supporting the event, and of course to the girls for their amazing dedication to school sport, their positive attitudes and their achievements in the name of AGGS. You make us proud every day!
Huge congratulations to the Year 8A team who were crowned Trafford Champions. They were unbeaten in the whole tournament conceding very few goals and scoring a huge number. They play really steady and consistent netball and earned their medals by beating Wellington in the final 7 goals to 2!
The 8B team also entered the tournament and played some great netball against other 8A teams. They had a great afternoons play and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity.
Well.done to all; I am very proud of you!
Congratulations to the Year 7a team who played some excellent netball in the Trafford Schools tournament. They were unbeaten in the section stages and went on to play Sale GS in the semi-final. They couldn’t quite mange to settle into a rhythm and struggled to get the ball into the shooting circle so never made it through to the final.
They have had an excellent first season and I am looking forward to seeing them develop further next year!
Congratulations to Ellie F, Milan W and Dani G who won a bronze medal at the National Junior Sculling Head last week. They competed in an U14 quad for Trafford RC, racing over 3600m on the Olympic course at Eton Dorney against 58 other crews.
They all rowed really well against some tough opposition. Well Done, Girls.
Tilly O, Year 10, has just returned from competing in the Novice category at the Budapest Cup, Hungary. Her team, ‘Whizz Kids’ skated against teams from Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic and came away with the Silver medal. The competition was also attended by the current Senior World Champions, Paradise of Russia who took the time to come and chat to Tilly and the rest of her team. It was a fantastic experience.
The U13 ‘A’ squad played their final match of the season against a mixed Loreto team comprising of year 8, 9and 10.
After a slow start to the match the team eventually got into gear and won 5-0.
The year 7 ‘A’ and U13 teams had their final Saturday morning fixtures of the season.
The U13 team won 2-0 and the year 7’s won 5-0.
Well done to everyone who played.
Also: the U16X1 had a disappointing county tournament on Saturday. They lost both games : to Manchester High 1-0 and to Stockport Grammar School 1-0

Great achievement for all the girls who played really well on the day and have been training hard throughout the winter.
The year 7, 8, 9 and 10 rowers had qualified for the Greater Manchester County Finals as Trafford Champions in December.
In this competition, which consisted of teams of 4, they were now rowing against schools from all over the County. There were two events : and individual competition where each girls rowed for a certain length of time and a team relay where the team had to row a total of 8 minutes, making sure that every rower took part. Results were decided on how many metres they rowed.
Year 10 results :-
Winner and County individual Champion, winning a gold medal : Laura M.
County Team runners-up, winning silver medals : Laura M., Leah H., Zoe R., and Phoebe S-J.
Winner and County Individual Champion, winning a gold medal : Millie P.
Bronze medal winner : Ellie F.
Team winners, winning gold medals : Millie, Dani, Ellie and Milan
Bronze medalistin the individual event : Beth H.
County runners-up and silver medalists : Beth, Olivia, Mila and Charlotte
The girls produced some very good results against some strong opposition. In the team event they narrowly missed out on a bronze medal by 0.4 of a metre!!!
Well done to Kirsten, Selin, Phoebe and Eloise.
The school results were amazing, particularly as most of the girls do not take rowing seriously. They are just very fit athletes transferring their skills to another sport. Some of the schools that were in the competition have rowing machines at school and rowing is part of their school PE curriculum.
The girls were amazing and some great team work and support for each other was in evidence throughout the competition.
Well done to everyone who took part.
Congratulations to the year 8 sportshall athletics team who won the Trafford competition today. They recorded first place in many of the race heats and performed well in the field events. The score 241 points overall – which was the highest score of any team competing – including the boys teams! Well done to Anna, Holly, Aimee, Olivia, Samyu, Nielja and Alicia. They now go through to the Greater Manchester round to represent Trafford.
Also so well done to the year 7 team who came third in their competition. The team was Olivia, Libby, Izzy, Talia, Eva, and Amira.
