The U13 Aegon tennis team won their final match against The Grange School, Hartford by 5 sets to 1.
They now join the U15 team in the knock-out stages of this National competition in September.
Well done to both teams. I don’t think we have had both teams through to this stage before.
Six couples played in this match. The first three teams made up team 1 (B and C Aegon team players) and the second three teams made up team 2 ( for some of these it was their first ever match).
Team 1 lost by 28 games to 36 and Team 2 won by 35 games to 21.
Well done girls. Some very good and enjoyable tennis was played.
The year 10 team beat Stockport Grammar School in the county final of the Aegon National Schools’ Competition. The now progress to the knock-out rounds in September.
Well done to Georgie, Evie, Georgia and Livvi
The year 9’s had a great morning’s tennis playing in the King’s School U14 Invitation Tournament on Saturday. There were 8 teams playing in two sections of round robin matches.
After a draw against Stockport Grammar School (9 games all) : a win against King’s ‘B’ ( 21-0) and a loss against a very strong Queen’s School ‘A’ team (7-12) we qualified for the ‘Cup’ finals. In these three matches we beat King’s ‘A’ team 13-4 and Moreton Hall School, Shropshire 15-2 but lost again to Queen’s ‘A’ team 7-13. We were therefore runners-up of the tournament.
Well done girls – you played some great tennis.
Congratulations to girls in Year 7 and 8 who won the first ever BFET Sports Day today!
The event was held at Sports City with Diane Modahl presenting awards.
Millie in Year 8 won the 800m and Alicia in Year 7 won the speed bounce. There were many other fantastic performances from individuals and the overall trophy was very well deserved! Well done girls!
Congratulations to the u13 team (and their mascots Eric the elephants) for their brilliant win tonight in the Aegon tennis competition. As the girls were knocking up it looked as though it was going to be a really rough match as the Wilmslow girls looked very strong. However Amber, Sarah, Kitty and Evie played some superb tennis to beat them by 5 sets to 1.
This team have not lost any of their Aegon matches yet. One more to go against The Grange School, Hartford, next week. If we win that match we will qualify for the National Knockout stages in September.
Good luck girls and well done so far.
Ellie Heathcock (year 10), a long with three crew, became British Champions at the National Schools’ Regatta in the women junior under 15 coaxed quad category. This is the highest possible achievement in rowImg at her age. Henley Regatta and selection for the GB junior team are not yet opened to her. At 15 , this is the pinnacle of rowing.
For this amazing rowing achievement Ellie won a gold medal. Ellie and her squad have won all regional and national level competition meetings all year.
Well done Ellie. We are very proud of you.
The year 8 and 10 ‘B’ teams played against Sale’ ‘A’ teams in another Aegon match. The year 10 won by 5 sets to 1. The year 8 match was a lot closer. After the 6 sets the score was 3-3. The result was then decided by a championship tie-break to 10 points. It was very closely fought but we came out on top by 10 points to 7.
Well done to both teams.
