Year 10 Trafford Rounders Runners Up

Well done to the Year 10 rounders team who played some great rounders in the Trafford tournament. They were unbeaten in the group stages with the following results:
Stretford GS won 11 and a half – 2
Urmston B won 6 – 1 and a half
BTH won 9 – 3
St Antony’s won 7 and a half – 6
They went through to play Ashton in the semi-final and won 4 and a half to 2 rounders but struggled a little in the final against Urmston A. They batted first scoring 5 rounders but couldn’t quite manage to field the deep balls that Urmston hit. Nevertheless it was a great evening of rounders and the girls thoroughly enjoyed it!

Congratulations to the U15 cricket team for winning their first ever T20 match against Fallibroome in the Schools Sports Magazine National competition. AEGON TENNIS v Stockport Grammar School

The year 8 ‘B’ team had a very competitive match against Stockport’s ‘A’ team. At the end of the match the result was 3-3 so the result was to be decided by a championship tie-break which is the first to 10 points in one doubles match. As with the rest of the match, the result was very close but we narrowly lost it so we lost the match 4-3.

The girls played a lot of tennis in a long match. They well deserved their refreshments at the end!!!!!

AEGON TENNIS v Alderley Edge School for Girls

Congratulations to the year 10 team for their 6-0 win. Some great tennis was played, well done girls.

The year 7 team had a tough match against some strong year 8 and 7 players from Alderely Edge. They played some very good tennis and had some wonderful rallies but overall found the opposition too strong. The team lost by 4 matches to 2.

This match was a good taster for next year when they will be playing in their real age group. It is also the first time that some of them had played singles as they normally concentrate on doubles play.

Year 9+10 teams played against Wilmslow this evening. Year 9 won 13 – 6 1/2 while year 10 narrowly lost 11 – 12 1/2. ┬áSome excellent fielding and batting from both teams. Looking good for Trafford Schools’ tournaments – year 10s is next Tuesday.

The tennis teams had a great morning’s play on Saturday.

The year 9 team won 31 games to 30

The year 8 team won 56 games to 14

The year 7 team won by 46 games to 12

There were a lot of girls playing their first tennis match for school, particularly in year 7, so the results were brilliant and shows we have great strength in depth.

Well done everyone.

The Year 10’B’ and year 8 ‘C’ tennis teams travelled to Marple Hall School, in Stockport on Wednesday to play in their next Aegon tennis matches, both against ‘A’ teams.

The year 8 team had a hard match and lost by 4 sets to 2. However they played some good tennis and never gave up. Well done to Millie Pearce for winning both her matches.

The year 10’B’ team played some very good tennis and won by 4 sets to 2.

Well done to everyone. It was a great evening’s tennis.
