Swimming success

Congratulations  to the swimming teams in their performance in the English Schools North West Secondary School Team Championships.

We entered two teams in the junior and intermediate freestyle events and take teams in the intermediate freestyle and medley events. A large number of schools entered the competition but we were one of only a few schools who entered two teams in each event.

The junior ‘A’team came 4th in the 4 x 50 freestyle and the ‘B’ team came 21st (out of 28 entries) – very creditable results.

Unfortunately the junior medley teams were both disqualified to to technicalities regarding turns and starts. Whey both had good times though, if they had counted.

In the inter girls freestyle the ‘A’ team came 2nd, behind a very strong Canon Slade team, from Bolton (our time was just .70 of a second slower). Our ‘B’ team came 11th, out of 24 entries – which were superb results.

In the medley our ‘A’ team won in a time 4 seconds faster than Canon Slade. We swam it in 2 minutes 9.56 seconds – amazing!!!  The ‘B’ team came 19th – out of 24 entries.

We will have to wait until all the other qualifying results have come in around the country to see if we have qualified for the National Schools’ Finals as all results are done on times. We have our fingers crossed that the inter team will qualify for both the free and medley finals.
