Congratulations to all the girls who received colours and special awards in sports assembly in recognition of their dedication to and success in school sport. Special mention to Holly in year 9 who was presented with Sports Personality of the Year Open Category for her success in swimming and Amy in Year 10 who was awarded the Jenny Stansby Award for Commitment to School Sport.
Congratulations to Laura in Year 8 who has been playing for the Greater Manchester County Netball Academy this year and has recently been selected to attend the first trial for regional selection. The region consists of Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire, Cumbria and Merseyside.
Laura played in a tournament as part of the trial which was a fabulous atmosphere; she says she was excited yet nervous to be competing! The day was a success and she thoroughly enjoyed playing with, and against some of the best players across the county. She has been selected to attend the summer training camps where she will work alongside top coaches and other talented players to earn a place at the final trial which will determine whether or not she gets into the regional programme next season. This is a fantastic achievement and we wish Laura luck over the summer and hope that she is successful in her trials; we are very proud!
We are coming to towards the end of another season. The year 7 and 10 teams played Loreto in their final matches.
The year 7 ‘A team won by 32 games to 28. The ‘B’ team won by 43 games to 7. Well done to both teams for such excellent results. Thank you very much to Mrs Bamford for taking the match
The year 10 ‘A’ team won by 35 games to 22 and the ‘B’ team lost by 18 games to 33. In this game some of the players were playing their first match for school. Even though they lost they enjoyed playing and played some very good tennis at times.
Congratulations to year 7+8 rounders teams – both won their matches in the Trafford Schools’ League Finals. The year 7 are double champions as the won the Trafford Schools’ tournament last week! Well done – some excellent batting and fielding from both teams and a great finish to the season.
What a shame the weather spoiled the day. We were unable to continue with the afternoon programme of track events due to the rain. However, the morning events saw 4 school records broken.
Lizzy Twite broke the 1500m record by 2 seconds, Amy Jackson jumped 4m88cm in Long Jump and Phoebe Pardoe threw 20m15cm in the Discus. But I think you’ll agree the most amazing record that was broken was in the year 7 ball throw. As all the rounders players know, Maariyah in 7-6 has a fantastic throw, but she absolutely smashed the school record, which has stood since 2011, by over 12 metres. A massive 50m30cm was her best attempt – I don’t think any of the PE staff can throw that far!! Well done to all 4 girls.
it has been a short season, as always but the teams have done very well.
Year 10 team : played 4 won 4. The 3 teams entered in the Team Tennis competition won the majority of their matches and the ‘A’ team were runners up in the county round of the competition.
Year 9 team : played 6 won 6
Year 8 team : played 6 won 5 and lost 1. The Team Tennis ‘A’ team also won their group stages of the competition and have now qualified for the National knock-out stages of the competition in September. The ‘A’ team also won the King’s School, Chester invitation tournament.
Year 7 : played 7 won 6 and lost 1
A great season has been had by all. Thanks to the girls for making it such a successful and enjoyable one. Thank you also to the numerous parents who have transported the girls to and from matches. It is very much appreciated.

Congratulations to the year 8 tennis team. They won their final match against Marple Hall School, Stockport 6-0 in this National Schools’ Competition.
This means they have won the Cheshire round of the competition without dropping a game – quite an achievement. The team now qualify for the National Knock-out round of the competition which starts in September.
