Y7 Tenner Challenge

Young Enterprise - Tenner ChallengeThe Year 7s have been involved in the Tenner Challenge and have had 2 selling opportunities over a lunchtime selling items from cakes, keyrings, biscuits and chocolates to CD clocks!

The Tenner Challenge provides a highly interactive way for students to develop key skills including creativity, resilience, and problem solving, using real money to take calculated risks in business. Students are pledged £10 and have one month to set up a business – coming up with an idea of a product or service they can sell and gain first-hand experience of what it’s like to be an entrepreneur.

Year 7 Young Enterprise Challenge

Last term we welcomed Young Enterprise who came to introduce the Tenner Challenge which Year 7 have the opportunity to take part in during March – in teams they have to generate as much profit starting with £10 initial investment within a month.  We have 17 teams taking part and they will be selling their products in school on Tuesday 21st March and Monday 27th March.

During the session they were introduced to basic business skills by playing a bead game; they had to buy raw materials (beads) and then produced jewellery and then sell the bracelets. Enterprise skills used during the day included leadership, negotiation, teamwork, creativity, time-management, communication….

The feedback that we have received from the year group has been very positive. We wish all the year 7’s participating good luck with their forthcoming challenge.
