We were delighted to accompany three girls in year 7 to the regional final of the spelling bee competition in Manchester on Thursday 30 March. Aahi competed in Spanish, Alekhya competed in French and Parnika competed in German. All three girls did extremely well, with Parnika winning third prize for German and Alekhya winning first prize for French. We were extremely proud of them! They have now qualified to take part in the national final of the competition in June in Cambridge.

Spelling-Bee, Feb 2017Year 7 Spelling-Bee, February 2017
On Friday, three year 7 students, Connie, Lavanya and Rose took part in the national finals of the Routes into Languages spelling bee competition in Cambridge. All three girls had worked incredibly hard to prepare for the event. To illustrate their achievement, 100 students were invited to take part in the final from an original field of over 75 000 students. All three acquitted themselves very well in an exceptionally strong field. Connie narrowly missed out on a place in the Spanish last four after a tie-break but we are delighted to report that Lavanya went through to the final round and was crowned national champion for German. Many congratulations to the girls, the teachers who worked with them and their parents for their dedication, commitment and support.
The girls performed fantastically well in the regional final of the spelling bee competition. Lavanya in 7-4 won first prize for German, Rose in 7-6 won 3rd prize for German and Connie in 7-7 won 3rd prize for Spanish. Over 12,500 pupils took part in this competition across the North West, so this was a remarkable achievement. They have all qualified to take part in the national competition in July. Viel Glück! Buene suerte!

We enjoyed a nail biting afternoon at the regional final of the spelling bee competition. Elena in 7-2 and Mehnaz and Raavi in 7-4 competed really well and Shraddha in 7-3 won the competition for German! She will now represent the school in the National final in July. This is quite an achievement, as over 200 pupils took part in the competition during the afternoon across the three languages.
Miss Miller and Mrs Stokes were very proud of them all.
