Over the last two weeks, pupils have been celebrating the language history and culture of India. This has focussed on our KS3 pupils, with a variety of activities taking place, such as samosa making; jewellery making; sitar playing in assembly; learning new Indian languages; talks about Indian politics, Indian history and Indian religions; Indian dancing; Hinglish; playing Kabaddi and cricket. We are very grateful to departments for coordinating such interesting activities and to the pupils themselves, who have led many of them.
The year 10’s recently completed a Design and make project for Retail. Producing a range of wonderful interior products inspired by iconic furniture stores such as Habitat and Heals. Pupils made a range of outcomes including multi-functional laser cut bedside tables, hand carved hardwood stools and copper lights and were all really pleased with the results.
On Tuesday, 22nd November our year 10 Product Design girls visited the Fab Lab in Altrincham to look at the possibilities open to them using Laser cutters, CNC machines and 3D printers. It was a fantastic, interesting and informative trip, hopefully the first of many!
On Wednesday 26th May, 60 Year 5 pupils from Bowdon Church Primary School came to AGGS to take part in a design and technology morning. The pupils were able to experience design and technology in a secondary school in all three areas; Food, Product Design and Textiles. Everyone had a very exciting morning completing three different end results to take home with them including a pizza toast, a felt photo frame and a laser cut personalised ruler. Each result was designed and manufactured by the Year 5 pupils with help from the design and technology teachers at AGGS!
