French Debating National Final

French Debating National Final 2018Today, Celine B and Emily L in Y13 took part in the national final of the Institut Français Debating Competition in London, against teams from ten other schools from across the country, having come second in the regional competition. They won their first debate against Stephen Perse School and narrowly lost their second debate against Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys, having to defend the motion ‘Multilingualism is a barrier to the unity of a nation’… in French! Although they did not make it to the grand final, Celine won the judges’ favourite prize for an excellent individual performance. Celine and Emily were both fantastic and a credit to themselves and the school.
