Support

Everyone at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls is shocked and saddened by the events at the Manchester Arena and our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved, their families and their friends.

If you want to talk to your child about Monday night’s events, here are some possible suggestions on websites that you can use with your child for emotional resilience and support.

Responding to children and young people affected by the media coverage of the incident in Manchester (Winston’s Wish – pdf)

Some students have, this week, accessed additional support from one of our school counsellors (from an organisation called Talk, Listen, Change).   Talk, Listen, Change are also offering free counselling to any students who have been particularly affected by the tragic events on Monday evening.  To contact the service please call 0161 872 1100 or visit www.talklistenchange.org.uk.  We have sought advice from the School Nurse Service and can call on them as needed.

Supporting our students is our primary concern, if you have any issues regarding a matter relating to this incident, or if you are concerned and would like to talk to a member of staff, please contact your child’s senior tutor, in the first instance.

We wish all our families a restful half term.
