GCSE Presentation Evening 2016

GCSE presentation evening, Sep 2016Our Annual GCSE Presentation Evening took place on Thursday 22nd September 2016, at the Forum Centre, Wythenshawe.
The evening included music recitals, drama performance by Year 12 and 13 students.

The guest speaker for this year was a former AGGS student, Jane Scrivner, who founded a complementary therapy business and has also established her own multi-award winning brands of skincare products, as well as publishing a number of books. Jane’s speech was inspirational and motivating, and shed light to a career path of a self-employed woman.

The evening continued with a speech by Principal Stephanie Gill, and certificates were given to all former Year 11 students.

This event is a special evening celebrating the outstanding achievements of our students. 100% of students gained at least 5 subjects at A*-C, including English and Mathematics. A superb 96% of examinations taken were graded from A*-B, 80% were graded A*-A and an impressive 43% were graded A*.

Well done to all involved.

Augsburg Exchange

Augsburg Exchange 2016

Pictured are the 14 AGGS students with their German partners as part of our exchange with Maria Ward Gymnasium. The German students enjoyed wonderful hospitality and were delighted with the warm welcome extended to them by their hosts. They completed 4 days of work experience in a variety of fields and have thoroughly enjoyed their week with us. We are now looking forward to the return trip to Augsburg in February 2017.

Year 12 Induction Day

Year 12 induction day, September 2016

We were delighted to welcome our new Year 12 to the sixth form on Friday 1st September. Students took part in an induction day, which involved team building sessions with the RAF, the army and the marines, as well as some time getting to know their form group and form tutor. It was lovely to see so many of our own students returning to the school, as well as a number who joined us from elsewhere.

We are very much looking forward to working with these fantastic students over the next two years and wish them lots of luck for their sixth form journey.
