ESU Performing Shakespeare competition

esu_logoOn the 3rd February, AGGS hosted the regional finals of the ESU Performing Shakespeare competition. There were students from four schools across the North West competition.

ESU Feb 2016Representing AGGS was:

Jenna (Year 9), performing Cordelia’s speech from King Lear (Act 1, Scene 1)

Lucia and Millie (Year 8), performing Caliban and Prospero from The Tempest (Act 1, Scene 2)

Hania (Year 8), performing Helena’s speech from A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Act 1, Scene 1)

Sophia and Livi (Year 9), performing Titania and Oberon from A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Act 1, Scene 2)

All of the AGGS girls were fantastic. Before announcing the final result, the judges commenting that this had been the most competitive region. In the end, Jenna (Year 9) won a judges commendation for her performance of Cordelia, King Lear. Lucia and Millie (Year 8) won best duologue for their performance of Prospero and Caliban, The Tempest and so will be competing in the national finals on the 8th March.
