Junior Silver at the Lowry

A

big well done to Junior Silver Dance Company who were selected to take part in Udance workshops at the Lowry today. The dancers were given the opportunity to share their work with other schools and some of the Lowry’s lovely dance artists. They have also had the opportunity to work with dancers from across the North West in creative workshops led by Lynsey and Georgio from Northwest dance. After such a busy afternoon, they are looking forward to attending the UDance 10 year birthday party shortly, as well as the Udance regional finals later this evening! Well done dancers!

Dance workshop with the Centre for Advanced Training in Dance (CAT)

On Monday, Year 9 and Year 10 dancers participated in a dance workshop with Lyndsey Thomas from the Centre for Advanced Training at the Lowry.

Dancers took part in a 3 hour contemporary dance technique class and creative session. Everyone participated enthusiastically and we all enjoyed the session…although we are all a little sore today!

Some dancers are interested in attending the open days and contemporary dance classes at the Lowry. For more information on these, and the CAT scheme at the Lowry, please visit

GCSE Dance residential – summary

Dance Residential TripYear 10 dancers have just returned from a brilliant dance trip to the Conway Centre, Angelsey. The weekend, run by Homegrown Dance Theatre, included dance workshops on all aspects of GCSE Dance. Students from schools across the country learnt repertoire from professional dances on the GCSE anthology, choreographed dances and learnt 2 of the set phrases. A great weekend was had by all and we are all very tired now! See more photos here:

Silver Dance Company

Silver Dance Company We have decided to name our dance performance groups to make us sound very professional when we are representing the school at external performances.Silver Dance Company

As we wanted the name to link to our school name, AGGS, we have picked Silver Dance company as Ag is the chemical symbol for Silver!

Congratulations to all the new members of Silver Dance Company and Junior Silver Dance Company.

Sunday morning and home time

This morning, dancers have learnt the set phrase ‘shift’ and created performance pieces using the poem ‘I am meth’ as a stimulus.

We are so impressed with how hard all of them have worked this weekend; they have put 100% into every workshop. We now have lots of ideas and rep ready to use in GCSE dance lessons back at school.

11 tired dancers all heading home…thanks for a great weekend everyone xx

Saturday Dance residential

Year 10 have had a very busy day participating in workshops with Boy Blue and creating dances in the style of A Linha Curva and Artificial Things. They have also learnt the set phrase ‘Flux’. They are currently creating choreographies with Home grown Dance Theatre.
