Welcome back after half term, we hope you are feeling rested and ready to start dancing again!
In the week commencing 26th February, there is an exciting opportunity to take part in some Indian dance workshops. The sessions will take place in the gym in the first half of lunch time (12.30-1.00) and will include a taster of belly dancing, Bharatanatyam and Bollywood dance!
The sessions will be led by Sneha (year 11) Deetha (year 12) and Anushka (year 10) so they are guarenteed to be fabulous! If you are interested in taking part, then all you need to do is turn up on your year group’s allocated day.
Year 8 – Monday 26th February
Year 9 – Tuesday 27th February
Year 10 – Wednesday 28th February
Year 7 – Thursday 1st March
Year 11 and sixth form – Friday 2nd March
We hope to see you there!
Year 10 dancers have just returned from a brilliant dance trip to the Conway Centre, Angelsey. The weekend, run by Homegrown Dance Theatre, included dance workshops on all aspects of GCSE Dance. Students from schools across the country learnt repertoire from professional dances on the GCSE anthology, choreographed dances and learnt 2 of the set phrases. A great weekend was had by all and we are all very tired now! See more photos here:
We have decided to name our dance performance groups to make us sound very professional when we are representing the school at external performances.
As we wanted the name to link to our school name, AGGS, we have picked Silver Dance company as Ag is the chemical symbol for Silver!
Congratulations to all the new members of Silver Dance Company and Junior Silver Dance Company.
This morning, dancers have learnt the set phrase ‘shift’ and created performance pieces using the poem ‘I am meth’ as a stimulus.
We are so impressed with how hard all of them have worked this weekend; they have put 100% into every workshop. We now have lots of ideas and rep ready to use in GCSE dance lessons back at school.
11 tired dancers all heading home…thanks for a great weekend everyone xx
Year 10 had choreography workshops right up till 9pm last night! They created dances based on 3 action words. Then the evening entertainment was….MORE dancing at the disco!
It wouldn’t be a AGGS dance residential without our ‘jumping off the wall’ photo! We may even have added a new ‘in the tree’ tradition!
Year 10 have had a very busy day participating in workshops with Boy Blue and creating dances in the style of A Linha Curva and Artificial Things. They have also learnt the set phrase ‘Flux’. They are currently creating choreographies with Home grown Dance Theatre.
This morning, Group 2 have been working really hard learning the set phrase ‘Flux’.
Group 1 have been getting their maths heads on this morning! They’ve been enjoying a fabulous workshop with Yolanda from Boy Blue Entertainment. They’ve worked incredibly hard learning the Ninja run from Emancipation of Expressionism.
We’ve arrived safe and sound. We have eaten, been to our rooms and are ready to start dancing!
