Welcome Back & Clubs

A big hello from Mrs. Bowyer at the Citizenship  department and welcome back. Welcome also to the new Citizenship department blog.

Club’s start back this week. We have Youth Action Group starting on the 8th Sept . This is a club that explores the passions you have relating to international issues of injustice. It helps you to share your views with others and build your advocacy skills and have fun whilst you are at it.

Has the recent refugee crisis got you talking and angry, come along and we will look at how we can raise awareness of the plight of the refugees and make others want to make a difference too. You will work towards achieving your Youth Ambassadors Badge, a prestigious award from Oxfam.

Youth Action Group meets in Rm 13 / Language Lab computer room from 12.30-13.15pm. Bring your lunch. It is open to year 7-10.

We also have Model UN for older students. If you are in yr 9-13 and want to debate international issues and learn about how the world connects and works then Model UN is for you.

We take on the role of different countries and debate about a current and relevant topic from that countries perspective. The club is student led and the debates are fun and easy to pick up.

You will have the chance to take part in conferences, competing with students from all over the country.

We start back on Weds 9th Sept Rm 13 for an intro to MUN and then we will debate from next week. Bring your lunch and come and see what it’s all about.
