This term, the charity we have supported is the Teenage Cancer Trust, who aim to help young people suffering from cancer with specialised nurses and support. We have raised an amazing £1000 for this charity, which was collected through many fundraising events that the Charity Committee organised.
We have run popular cake sales, including a pancake sale and an Easter Egg Hunt, all of which were very successful in raising money to support Teenage Cancer Trust.
Thank you to everyone who donated and supported the fundraising for this important cause.
Thank you to everyone who has donated items for the Harvest Festival! All food and other items will be donated to FareShare, which aims to stop food waste and distribute it amongst people who are struggling to afford the basic necessities. We have received many contributions, which will be sure to help many people.
Our names are Zona, Amelia, Asraa, Sophia, Mahjabin, Bella, Evie, Olivia, Laura and Sadie and we will be your charity committee for this year. We are all very passionate about helping others and are looking forward to organising key charity events at AGGS. Last year, the school was very successful in raising money and we hope that this coming year will be just the same!
Upcoming events include the Macmillan Coffee Morning Cake Sale and the Harvest Festival. We would really appreciate any cake donation for the cake sale on the 28th September.
We would like to encourage everyone at the school to donate to the charities that we support – even just a few pennies can make a big difference if enough people contribute. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! The Charity Committee
On Wednesday 12th July, we held a rounders match involving some of the teachers and the Year 10 rounders team. We would like to thank all those who played in the rounders match as well as everyone who donated 50p each to watch the match – we had an amazing turnout. We also sold sweets and chocolate to the spectators. Overall we raised an astounding £60!

This term, the charity that we are supporting is MIND, a charity that aims to provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They also campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. We have chosen this charity because as a school, we wanted to eliminate all mental health stigmas so that people can feel more comfortable talking about it openly.
At the moment, the charity reps from each year are collecting money in buckets at the end of each assembly. If everyone in the school gave 10p at the end of one assembly a week, by the end of the year we would have collected £1404!
If you would like to find out more about MIND, follow this link to their website: www.mind.org.uk
We have some exciting events planned which include the Teachers vs Year 10 rounders match on the 12th July, where we will also be selling ice lollies to raise money for MIND.
Finally, we would like to encourage everyone at the school to donate to the charities that we support – even just a few pennies can make a big difference if enough people contribute. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far!
