We WON! Spire Manchester Hospital Competition

Exciting news and a huge congratulations to Parnika, Parissa, Evie, Sophia and Yvonne for winning the competition. They could not decide on one winner so awarded all of them with prizes and their work will feature across both the children’s and adolescent menus. They also have the other hospitals within the Spire group interested in using their designs too so a huge well done to these students.

On Monday we visited the hospital and took part in taste testing the current menu and offering feedback and critique about what could possibly be developed or changed in any way.

They were also given their prizes and the school were given £100 worth of book vouchers. We cant wait to see the actual menus once they have been developed for printing by the designers. Watch this space for those…

Again, well done to all our well deserved winners who were brilliant on Monday, making the school and the Art department very proud.

Here are the winning entries and a few photos from the day….

Art Summer Exhibition, June 2018

The annual Art A level exhibition opened on Tuesday 19th June and this year included some excellent examples of work from the new GCSE course. It was a beautiful summers evening, very well attended with many proud parents and friends of the Year 13 students. Again there was a variety of themes and styles on show ranging from portraiture, to chickens to cars and the students skills clearly shone through.

A-level Art Exhibition and Alumni Evening 2017

The Altrincham Grammar School for Girls annual art exhibition and alumni evening was held on Tuesday 20th June. It was a superb opportunity to celebrate the work of their talented A level students and an opportunity for students who graduated from as long ago as 1956 to mingle with the proud parents, the students and other invited guests.

It was a beautiful summer evening and the work matched the lovely weather with a varied and rich selection of styles full of quality and creativity on display. Phil Doyle director of Manchester based architects 5Plus was on hand to award the inaugural 5plus AGGS “Creativity in the Arts” prize to a deserving selection of students. 5Plus are keen to promote the importance of the arts and are already involved in similar schemes with the Manchester Art School. Voted the best architectural practice in the North West for the last two years, they are keen to recognise up and coming talent. There was certainly no shortage to choose from in this exciting and diverse exhibition.

A-Level Art Exhibition 2016

Art_A-Level-Exhibition_2016-(5)The A Level Art exhibition was again, a great success and started on Monday with a busy preview evening.

The Year 12 and 13 students worked very hard over the year and have produced an excellent and diverse display of their talents. The work covers a range of themes including portraiture, landscapes, natural forms and architecture and the girls used a wide variety of materials and techniques such as drawing, painting (in watercolour, acrylics and oils), textiles and 3d, all to a very high standard,  they should all be very proud.
