Our spring concert on Wed 14th March involved over 180 students, performing in 14 different ensembles, choirs, bands, orchestras, of which many are directed by the students themselves. It was a very joyous evening.
John Stephens, BFET’s CEO has said: ‘The concert was an excellent demonstration of the arts at their best with a high level of participation, a diverse range of music and the opportunity for students to shine, whether they were beginners or accomplished musicians.’
The Lancashire Chamber Orchestra would like to extend a very warm invitation to you to come to our next concert on Sunday 25th March 2018, at 3:00pm, at Altrincham Girls’ Grammar School, Cavendish Road, Bowdon, WA14 2NL.
We are delighted to welcome back the inimitable Mr Robert Chasey for our 2018 concert series. Bob first took up his baton with the LCO back in the 1980s and we are thrilled that he has agreed to put us through our paces again in this gorgeous programme of Spring music.
We begin our concert with the charmingly beautiful and fresh Romance for Strings, by the British composer, Gerald Finzi.
We are then joined by our first-rate wind, brass and percussion team for a performance of Siegfried Idyll by Richard Wagner. Siegfried was written as a birthday present from Wagner to his wife, Cosima, to celebrate the birth of their son.
We conclude our concert with the effervescent and tuneful Symphony No. 3 by Franz Schubert.
During the interval, you will be treated to delicious home-made cakes and refreshments!
We do hope you will join us for a wonderful concert and social event.
Tickets are available from the Contact form on the Concerts page of the LCO website: http://www.lancashirechamber.co.uk/concerts/ or from 0161 980 4275, or on the door. Early reservations are recommended to secure your seat.

This term’s Spring concert saw 195 students performing to a packed hall of parents, where a huge variety of music was heard, from 1st Orchestra playing a movement from a Haydn symphony to Junior Choir singing a wonderful arrangement of ‘Fernando’.
Twelve extracurricular music choirs/orchestras/bands/ensembles performed, of which over half were led by AGGS students. Three outstanding solo singers also performed (Anna T, Eleanor W, Annie S) , showcasing music they performed as part of the Suzanne Fischer masterclass in February.
The quality of all the music that evening was fantastic and many parents and staff were very complimentary.
Well done girls!
