The pitch was word perfect and Ella and Mimi performed a fabulous rap as part of their advertising campaign.

The students had a good day as the event was hosted by Diversity dance group – Jordan and Perry. Theo Paphitis headed up the judging panel and hosted a Q&A with the students – “Be inspired by everything around you, use everything as inspiration”.

Well done to Ella, Milly, Mimi, Rose, Mboje, Florrie – we have definitely got some budding entrepreneurs within the school.

There was a guest speech from Jo Clarke – Olympic Gold medallist in kayaking – who came to the finals to tell his story first hand and to show the students that if you want something enough – then anything really is possible – “Hard work and dedication pays off”. Year 9 – Rymans National Enterprise Challenge 2017

Rymans' National Enterprise Challenge 2017
Rymans’ National Enterprise Challenge 2017 – winning team ‘The Study Room’ from 9-1

On Monday 16th January the Year 9’s took part in the Ryman’s National Enterprise Challenge. The challenge this year has been set by Rymans and it is to create an app which could be used by Rymans customers. It couldn’t replicate Rymans website it had to be unique.

By taking part in this Challenge not only did the girls enjoy the experience but also gained skills in creativity, management, entrepreneurship and team work, all attributes which are essential in today’s world.

Thanks to Mrs Walker and Miss Martinez who had the difficult job of judging. As you would expect all the groups came up with exceptional ideas. Unfortunately there could only be one winning team and that was ‘The Study Room’ from 9-1 which was made up of Sarah, Mary, Eloise, Khadeejah, Anna and Natasha. Second place went to ‘Quiz me now’ Team `16 from 9-4: Mia, Ahona, Isobel, Annie, Lola and Alina,  and third was ‘Rymanager’ team 29 from 9-6:  Sadie, Diya, Amber, Tereza, Tejaswini and Maariyah. The Study room will now go onto the National Final in July to compete against over 250 schools. The winning team will have the opportunity for their app to be actually created.

We wish them the best of luck.
