Congratulations to the Year 9 and 10 students who qualified for the Regional A final of the prestigious English Schools Track and Field Cup. We were winners at Greater Manchester level and went to Robin Park, Wigan to compete against the best schools across the North West for a place at national finals in Gateshead.
The team were amazing in both the track and the field events with some superb performance and PB’s set. We finished second place narrowly missing out on a place in the finals. It is fair to say we were all truly devastated at being so close to that first place spot.
I am extremely proud of the team and the way they handled the whole situation, they are amazing athletes in their physical performance but also their manner and sportsmanship. Well done my team!
Last weekend Francesca won the National U20 Championship in the 1500m and is officially the best in Britain! We are waiting news this weekend that she has achieved the time required to qualify for the World Championships . What amazing news, we are very proud of you Francesca!
Francesca also raced in the senior Girl`s 800m at The Greater Manchester Schools and finished 1st in 2 minutes 9 seconds and broke the championship record set in 1995. She has also qualified for the English Schools Championships, where she will be entered into 1500m.
Below is a picture of Francesca racing for Great Britain on May 20th at the Loughborough International where she set a PB of 4 minutes 18 seconds.
This afternoon AGGS took on Flixton, Lostock, Stretford, and Sale Grammar in the first round of the National Schools Badminton Championships at Sale High School.
