Year 7 took part in an enterprise challenge masterclass, where in teams of businesses, they had to buy beads in order to make bracelets and necklaces to sell at a profit. They learnt about what makes a successful business, and how each individual brings a set of personal values and skills which are equally relevant and useful. Using their skills on financial capability, decision making & evaluating decisions and budgeting – all qualities of an entrepreneur; the winning team in the morning from 7-1, Emilia, Rhianon, Sanya, Natasha and Tamara made a profit of £650 and the afternoon team from 7-4 who were Ruby, Sophie, Keshni, Mia, Bette and Anna made over £1200 profit! Well done to all who took part.
R.E.D. January is over, with Mr Carr running a total distance of 103 miles. As revealed in the previous newsletter, February will see Mr Carr host a charity quiz here at AGGS on Friday 23rd at 6pm. The cost is £12 per team with each team having a maximum of 8 members. It’s an adult only event so leave the kids at home and come along for the fun. Bring your own refreshments and some spare money to get involved in the “between round” activities.
As an added challenge Mr Carr will be doing some swimming over the next 6 months. Back in 2014 he swam the equivalent of the channel at its narrowest point – 21 miles – in the pool. This time he is aiming to swim the equivalent of its widest point – 150 miles – over 6 months in the pool and outdoors.
