To raise money in school:

  • A cake sale will be held on Friday 17th November in the main hall
  • There is  going to be a raffle, with prizes including knitted Pudsey bears and a Pudsey bag- tickets are only £1
  • We will be selling Pudsey badges around school for £1

We would love for you to get involved so keep your eye open for these fundraising opportunities, which will be taking place imminently.

AGGS Football ESFA Cup

FOOTBALL report Written by Ms Payne.

We played Wilmslow in the first round of the the FA Playstation 9-a-side Cup.

Comprising the team who played in year 7 last year, it was their first fixture on grass and the first game of the season.

It was quite a wake up call when we fell two goals behind within the first 5 minutes but the response was almost immediate with Phoebe G and Evie J scoring two quick goals to draw level.

The game settled down a little after the frantic first 10 minutes before Wilmslow scored two further goals. Phoebe scored again to make the it 4-3 to Wilmslow at half time.

The second half was a more one sided affair. The introduction of Amna S, who was outstanding at Left wing back, and the fantastic battling of midfield duo Nam V and Mahnoor A saw us take control of the game. Evie J exploited the space on the right flank to create several chances and Phoebe completed her hat-trick going on to score five goals as both Lois C and Evie also found the back of the net.

Final Score; AGGS 8-4 Wilmslow

It was a brilliant second half and the team started to find confidence and showed their superior fitness.

The whole team were fantastic and we now look forward to the next match.

Evie J was selected as player of the match by Wilmslow for her dazzling wing play.

Hello from the new Charity Committee

Hi from the new charity committee,

Our names are Zona, Asraa, Sophia, Mahjabin, Amelia, Bella, Laura, Olivia and Sadie and we will be your charity committee for the next year. We are all very passionate about helping others and are looking forward to organising key charity events at AGGS. So far this year, the school has raised an amazing £7000 and we hope that fundraising here will be just as successful in the future.

This term, the charity that we are supporting is MIND, a charity that aims to provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They also campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. We have chosen this charity because as a school, we wanted to eliminate all mental health stigmas so that people can feel more comfortable talking about it openly.

At the moment, the charity reps from each year are collecting money in buckets at the end of each assembly. If everyone in the school gave 10p at the end of one assembly a week, by the end of the year we would have collected £1404!

If you would like to find out more about MIND, follow this link to their website: www.mind.org.uk

We have some exciting events planned which include the Teachers vs Year 10 rounders match on the 12th July, where we will also be selling ice lollies to raise money for MIND.

Finally, we would like to encourage everyone at the school to donate to the charities that we support – even just a few pennies can make a big difference if enough people contribute. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far!
