Today, AGGS was hosting another brilliant charity day, which included the Year 13s pantomime, the talent show and stalls in the dinning room. The day went extremely well, atmosphere was great, and we are proud to announce the winners on this years’ talent shows:
On Wednesday 20th December students and staff enjoyed their Christmas lunch. There was a lovely festive atmosphere in the dining hall with Christmas music, crackers and party hats. Many thanks to the catering team, the midday assistants for ensuring it was such an enjoyable lunchtime for everyone.
Thank you to everybody who donated to the ‘Reverse Advent Challenge’ – we were able to send a number of boxes to the Food Bank in Timperley. A special thanks goes to 7.2 and 7.5 who were especially generous and really got on board with the challenge!
The Y7, Y8 and Y9 Christmas Enterprise markets were as successful and as busy as ever this year. We had a variety of creative stalls selling; mobile phone cases, mini knitted hats, pot-pourri and homemade Christmas candles and gifts as well as nicely gift wrapped biscuits and sweets. Congratulations to all the students who took part, you all worked very hard to produce some amazing, original and good quality products. The winner for the best group and displaying the most entrepreneurial skills will be announced after Christmas.
On Monday 16th January the Year 9’s took part in the Ryman’s National Enterprise Challenge. The challenge this year has been set by Rymans and it is to create an app which could be used by Rymans customers. It couldn’t replicate Rymans website it had to be unique.
By taking part in this Challenge not only did the girls enjoy the experience but also gained skills in creativity, management, entrepreneurship and team work, all attributes which are essential in today’s world.
Thanks to Mrs Walker and Miss Martinez who had the difficult job of judging. As you would expect all the groups came up with exceptional ideas. Unfortunately there could only be one winning team and that was ‘The Study Room’ from 9-1 which was made up of Sarah, Mary, Eloise, Khadeejah, Anna and Natasha. Second place went to ‘Quiz me now’ Team `16 from 9-4: Mia, Ahona, Isobel, Annie, Lola and Alina, and third was ‘Rymanager’ team 29 from 9-6: Sadie, Diya, Amber, Tereza, Tejaswini and Maariyah. The Study room will now go onto the National Final in July to compete against over 250 schools. The winning team will have the opportunity for their app to be actually created.
