On Sunday 19th November Grace, Y8, competed in the TDCI English Junior Modern Championships and was awarded 1st Place out of 119 competitors becoming the English Junior Modern Champion 2017. The TDCI English Championships took place at the Waterside Arts Centre, Sale and Grace was presented with the Trophy by the Mayor of Trafford Jonathan Coupe.
Anyone wishing to create a solo or group dance for the Dance Production must attend the audition on
Thursday 23rd November after school.
For the audition we would like to see:
- At least a minute of your dance
- All dancers who are in the Dance must be there
- If you have performed in a dance production recently, try to be in different groups where possible (to give some variety)
- You should bring your music with you on a phone / iPod / CD
All dancers must relate to the theme of the animal kingdom. We will be looking for creative responses to this stimulus.
The sign up sheet for timeslots will be up on the Dance noticeboard in the gym from Thursday 16th November at 12:30pm.
Have any of you spotted Grace (8-3) in the CBBC show Taking the Next Step?!

The Regionals were filmed in Manchester in May, with Judges Kimberley Wyatt (Pussycat Dolls) Jonny Labey (Eastenders) and Swoosh from Dance Group Flawless. As we wanted the name to link to our school name, AGGS, we have picked Silver Dance company as Ag is the chemical symbol for Silver!
Congratulations to all the new members of Silver Dance Company and Junior Silver Dance Company.
This morning, dancers have learnt the set phrase ‘shift’ and created performance pieces using the poem ‘I am meth’ as a stimulus.
We are so impressed with how hard all of them have worked this weekend; they have put 100% into every workshop. We now have lots of ideas and rep ready to use in GCSE dance lessons back at school.
