During November, a Year 8 Disco was organised by three students from Year 13 (Emily W, Khadija A and May L). After a lot of hard work and preparation, a huge £425 was raised for the charity ‘Children in Need’! The event was a great success and hopefully this will inspire more events like this in the future! Here’s to a first of many student-organised charity events in school!
Children in Need Week was a huge success and so much fun. Khadija, Emily and May in Year 13 organised and held a Year 8 Halloween disco and raised an amazing £425.
Mrs Brennan in Reprographics knitted Pudsey Bear and Pudsey Blush Bear along with four sets of babies, which are on display in Reception, to raffle off. Tickets – a £1 a strip are on sale in Reception until 29th November. The draw will take place at The Christmas Concert during the interval.
Mrs Clutton, Mr Musgrove and 8-2 baked Pudsey cupcakes and biscuits for the cake sale on Friday 17th November and raised over £200. 7-2 had their own cake sale in the Hall and Sodexo baked a spotty cake and raised a further £56. The Pudsey Bear badges raised £60. At the end of 9-6’s Children in Need themed assembly they held a collection and raised £36!
To date we have raised over £700 and hope to raise even more through the sale of raffle tickets and weekly charity collections.
A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed and helped to raise money for Children in Need.
This half term the charity we will be supporting is Children in Need.
Children in Need are currently supporting 2,400 projects across the UK. The projects they fund help children facing a range of disadvantages; e.g. poverty and deprivation; children who have been the victims of abuse or neglect or disabled young people.
To raise money in school:
- A cake sale will be held on Friday 17th November in the main hall
- There is going to be a raffle, with prizes including knitted Pudsey bears and a Pudsey bag- tickets are only £1
- We will be selling Pudsey badges around school for £1
We would love for you to get involved so keep your eye open for these fundraising opportunities, which will be taking place imminently.
Thank you to everyone who has donated items for the Harvest Festival! All food and other items will be donated to FareShare, which aims to stop food waste and distribute it amongst people who are struggling to afford the basic necessities. We have received many contributions, which will be sure to help many people.

On Thursday 28th September we had our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning cake sale. In total we managed to raise £338.04! The money raised will help to benefit the lives of cancer patients across the UK. Macmillan are a well-known charity who provide medical, emotional, practical and financial support to cancer patients, as well as campaigning for better cancer care. We would like to thank everyone who came along to show their support and appreciate the efforts of students who either made or bought cakes to bring to the sale!
Harvest Festival will take place on Monday 2nd.
Harvest Festival donations can be left in the Main Hall ,in the boxes next to the stage , from Monday 25th September.
Many Thanks in advance for all your kind donations
The Charity Committee
Hi, we are the charity committee.
Our names are Zona, Amelia, Asraa, Sophia, Mahjabin, Bella, Evie, Olivia, Laura and Sadie and we will be your charity committee for this year. We are all very passionate about helping others and are looking forward to organising key charity events at AGGS. Last year, the school was very successful in raising money and we hope that this coming year will be just the same!
Upcoming events include the Macmillan Coffee Morning Cake Sale and the Harvest Festival. We would really appreciate any cake donation for the cake sale on the 28th September.
We would like to encourage everyone at the school to donate to the charities that we support – even just a few pennies can make a big difference if enough people contribute. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far!
