Spring Concert

Spring Concert March 2015This term’s Spring concert saw 195 students performing to a packed hall of parents, where a huge variety of music was heard, from 1st Orchestra playing a movement from a Haydn symphony to Junior Choir singing a wonderful arrangement of ‘Fernando’.

Twelve extracurricular music choirs/orchestras/bands/ensembles performed, of which over half were led by AGGS students. Spring Concert March 2015Three outstanding solo singers also performed (Anna T, Eleanor W, Annie S) , showcasing music they performed as part of the Suzanne Fischer masterclass in February.

The quality of all the music that evening was fantastic and many parents and staff were very complimentary.

Well done girls!

Book Event – Anna Mainwaring Book Signing

Wednesday 25th March

The lives and loves of jesobel jonesAs some of the pupils know, Mrs Clark of the English department has another identity as Anna Mainwaring, a writer of teen fiction. Her new book is called ‘The Lives and Loves of Jesobel Jones‘ and will be launched at a lunchtime event in the school library on March 25th.

Signed books can be purchased at a discounted price of £7 on the day. Alternatively, the paperback will be on sale on the Amazon website for £7.99 whilst the kindle version is a mere £1.99! A recent review described Jesobel as a cross between ‘a teenage Bridget Jones and Louise Rennison’. If that appeals, come to the Library on March 25th!

Careers Convention

Careers Convention, March 2015
Careers Convention, March 2015

On Wednesday, 11th March we held our biennial Careers Convention for parents and pupils of Year 10-13. The evening had a real ‘buzz’ to it with more than 70 representatives hosting stands from companies such as KPMG, PwC, Deloitte, Barclays, Unilever, Fujitsu, the Key 103 apprenticeship bus and many more. Representatives from Russell Group universities were on hand to offer advice on their courses and application processes.  The event provided an excellent opportunity for pupils to explore different career options and to attend talks. The Y9 & Y13 stewards were great ambassadors for the school showing representatives to their stands and being on hand to help with queries. We look forward to the next event in spring 2017!
