Year 10 Trafford Rounders Runners Up

Well done to the Year 10 rounders team who played some great rounders in the Trafford tournament. They were unbeaten in the group stages with the following results:
Stretford GS won 11 and a half – 2
Urmston B won 6 – 1 and a half
BTH won 9 – 3
St Antony’s won 7 and a half – 6
They went through to play Ashton in the semi-final and won 4 and a half to 2 rounders but struggled a little in the final against Urmston A. They batted first scoring 5 rounders but couldn’t quite manage to field the deep balls that Urmston hit. Nevertheless it was a great evening of rounders and the girls thoroughly enjoyed it!

T20 cricket success

Congratulations to the U15 cricket team for winning their first ever T20 match against Fallibroome in the Schools Sports Magazine National competition. The match was played after the final exam on the Friday which was a great end to a week of exams. We scored 88 runs in our 20 overs, with Laurie Sheriden (year 7) the top scorer with 35 runs. We now play Urmston Grammar School in the next round after half term.

Oxford’s Somerville college crowd funding tour

Saffiyah, A former AGGS student has written to us:

My name is Saffiyah and I was a pupil at AGGS a couple of years ago. Since leaving AGGS sixth form I went on to study music at Oxford University and am now in my second year. I was always immersed in the musical life at school and sang in many of the choirs which inspired me to audition to my college choir here in Oxford. This summer, my choir is fundraising to go on tour to New York where we will be doing concerts and singing workshops almost every day! However, as I’m sure you can imagine, this incurs a huge financial cost that not all members can accommodate so we are currently running a crowd funding campaign online to try and raise funds! I know I am an ex-pupil but I would really appreciate if the school or any teachers would consider making even a small donation as every little will help! Our campaign is already off to a successful start and we are over half way to our target but won’t receive any donations unless we meet our minimum of £3500. I would be so grateful if you could circulate this and consider making a donation!

Here is the link to the crowd funding page which has lots of information and videos on it.
