IS IT POSSIBLE…?…music in a pyramid ?….if sound can be captured on a CD, why not in a
Mathematical Shape …?
As the lyrical strands of a Year 7 violinist came floating over the chairs in the Dining Room, the girls wondered what this odd cut out plan on paper had to do with the instruments in an orchestra.
After answering questions about instruments written on each part of the hexagonal pyramid,
the girls assembled their shapes.
“I can see the shape Miss, as it’s just like what we learned about in maths, only 3D….!!”
Who says you can’t find a harp in a pyramid or a violin ? Why Not ??
“AND THEY’RE OFF…..COMING ROUND THE
BARRIER…BREAKING THROUGH THE PACK
YES..IT’S….IT’S….POPCORN……BY A MILE !”
Before we started our live racing commentary, from the CD, for our Maths Activity, the girls chose their horses carefully.
“I think Fred is a winner….no…maybe Aggies Girl…how about I Like Icecream…?”
Now girls…concentrate…here is the first equation…ready…go !!
As the words and sounds of the racetrack came to life, so did the girls.
As they scribbled hastily in their quest to see their horse reach the finish line with the most correct answers, a cheer went up from the back row
“…I Like Icecream has won……YES !!!!!!”
SOUND + IMAGINATION = LEARNING
