I have discovered some beautiful drawings whilst sorting the drawers of 7-3. Well done, these look fantastic!
Our Year 7 students sent a letter to the artist Yellena James which was inspired by her art work, and they got in response the most amazing set of letters addressed to each student individually!
See the letter which was sent to Yellena in the USA:
And see the response sent as a package back to us:
What talented year 7 students! They studied the work of the artist Yellena James and presented their research beautifully in their sketchbooks. They then made their own scraperboards and worked into them with patterns inspired by the artist.
Miss Silver will be sending some of these images together with letters from some very excited year 7’s after she contacted Yellena directly to tell her about the gorgeous work her year 7 groups were producing. She received a lovely reply. The artist was ‘delighted to have been an inspiration’ and is keen to see the girls work. What great news!!
I have been making my own examples for my year 7 classes to inspire and motivate their work.
The design sheets were featured last week as artists of the week and now we are beginning to make. I really enjoy getting this hands on practical side to our subject and I hope my step by step photo guide helps my classes to break their own designs down into achievable making stages.
A work in progress so I will post the final piece once I have completed it alongside the students responses.
My year 7 class are starting a mini project looking at artists Adam Frezza and Terri Chiao. They have been working on these design sheets to plan their 3D imaginary plant forms. We will then go on to make these out of recycled materials with bold, vivid colours and patterns. Watch this space….I can’t wait to see them develop. 😀
