Anti-Bullying Week 2017

Anti-bullying Week runs from 13-17 November each year and the theme this year is: โ€˜All Different, All Equalโ€™. The idea is to promote differences and help young people celebrate what makes them, and others, unique . Our main aim as Anti-bullying Ambassadors is to help people understand why itโ€™s important that every child feels included in the school community and allow them to express themselves without fear of bullying.

In AGGS, the Anti-Bullying team will be presenting assemblies to all year groups and will be promoting equality throughout the week through a range of activities. So keep your eyes open during November!

Sorry Box

A fresh start…

Traditionally at the start of a new year, we make resolutions about how we can change our life for the better. We would like to give everyone an opportunity to start 2017 in a positive way with one another.

Have you fallen out with someone or had an argument that has not been resolved with a friend? Anti bullying ambassadors have come up with an idea to post messages to a friend and it is called the ‘Sorry Box’.

This is how it works:

  • Write down what you would like to say
  • Sign you name
  • Address the envelope with the name of the person and your name on the back
  • Post the envelope into the private post box outside the medical room
  • The anti bullying ambassadors will deliver it on your behalf

Guidelines:

Keep it positive โ€“ this should not be a way of pursuing an argument or any ill feeling. The purpose is to rebuild a friendship.

Letters will not be delivered if your name isnโ€™t visible on the outside as this will be used as evidence of posting so it can be tracked.

If you receive a letter/card that is not appropriate please report this immediately to Miss Wright.

We hope the Sorry Box will help resolve arguments and mend friendships. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anti Bullying Week Update 2016

The theme ‘Power for Good’ is being promoted throughout the school week. Anti bullying Ambassadors have given assemblies to all year groups about how we can all make a change and create a friendly school environment.

We have recommended teachers to plan out activities for their form that help build teamwork skills. Anti bullying ambassadors will be visiting their Year 7 forms and playing games that require concentration and of course, they will be fun!

Teachers have also been asked t switch up seating plans so students can talk to other people they might not usually have conversations with.

We also recommend complimenting people this week, even a smile can brighten up someone’s day!

Anti bullying Week 2016

Every year in November,ย the Anti-Bullying Alliance co-ordinate Anti-Bullying Week. This year the theme is: ‘Power for Good’

Any ideas as to what this could mean?

We will be running activities this week, coming together to stand up to bullying!

Last years theme was ‘Make a Noise!’. Last year we presented in assemblies and promoted the Sharp System. What will we be doing this year? ๐Ÿ™‚

Revision Tips :)

As well as dealing with bullying we also want students to be happy and with the exam period fast approaching, here are some revision tips we have gathered over the years!

  • Know if you are a visual or auditory learner- whether you like to draw pictures or listen to lectures
  • Plan out when you will revise- make a timetable and pin it up
  • Don’t be scared to ask a teacher if you are unsure on a topic
  • Don’t be afraid to ask an ambassador if you are feeling stressed or worried
  • When revising, use colours to make studying more fun! :p
  • Set up study dates with friends that motivate you to study
  • Treat yourself ever so often- maybe watching TV or going out with friends
  • Drink lots of water and eat healthy
  • Rest and take breaks

Don’t be stressed! A bad grade isn’t the end of the world and there is always room for improvement.
