Let the baking season commence!
This week, the MFL Department held their very own Great British Bake Off, with the showstopper challenge being to create a cake that displays a famous European landmark. The show was marvellously presented by Mrs Crowson, our very Mel – and Sue! With enough personality to showcase both, and our special guest compares of Paul Hollywood, and Prue Leith – played graciously by Mr Walker and Mrs Clutton – the bake off was in action.
Some fantastic entries were showcased to the audience of Year 8, featuring entries that spun like the London Eye, and cupcakes in the shape of the Eiffel Tower, all the talented bakers in year 8 did the school proud, especially since there were no baked Alaska disasters.
The fantastic runners up of our bake-off presented a vibrant display of the island of Burano in Venice, Ruby F in 8-4, Jess and Freya R, 8-5, 8-2, and Lara B, 8-6, and Lucy B in 8-2 created an array of colourful houses with different frosting and fondants.
Our spectacular star baker was Niamh D, 8-5, who built a structure completely out of gingerbread, spun it completely like a function Ferris wheel, and even got a Paul Hollywood handshake! All winners won some lovely imprinted spoons to use in their next baking adventures. Congratulations to all the participants and see you next time at the MFL Bake-Off!
