India Fortnight So Far…

The first week showcasing the Indian culture within school has been full of spectacular activities! Unfortunately, the Devisdale was covered with snow and cricket and Kabbadi couldn’t go ahead but here are some of the highlights from the other events!

The Kumar sisters performed in assemblies from Monday to Friday, blowing us away with their musical talent whilst playing the sitar; a stringed instrument use most commonly in classical music but was introduced to western audiences through the likes of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.  Here are some pictures from the assembly:

On Monday, Year 8s were taught how to make samosas by Mrs Clutton. Samosas can be stuffed with a variety of fillings, ranging from minced meat to vegetables such as cauliflower and potatoes, all enclosed in a thin pastry and usually shaped as a triangle. The final samosas look delicious, well done Year 8s!

As well as this, during Mrs Herbert’s lesson, Holly and Urvi (Year 7) performed a dance routine for their class. Urvi dances weekly and is currently teaching Holly, who loves dancing. They wore traditional Indian clothing as well and here are some photos of the wonderful performance!
