The U13 team from last season qualified for the knock-out stages of this National Schools’ Competition. They were drawn against a very strong Manchester High School team. Unfortunately Amber Thoms, our number 1 player could not play as she was injured so Sarah Wide stepped up to mark to play the number 1 singles against the England number 1 player!!!!! Sarah lost the match but had some very good rallies and games. She enjoyed playing against that level of player (which doesn’t happen very often). Sarah was a 10.1 rating and her opponent was a 3.2!!!!

As Amber wasn’t playing Shevangi Kumar from a year below played number 2 singles. She was playing against the Cheshire number 1 who had a rating of 4.1 ( Shevangi’s rating was 10.1). Shivangi did very well to win one game and a number of games were also close.

Kitty Hamer won her number 3 singles (against a higher rated player) 6-1 and Evie McGuire won her number 4 singles 6-1.

We were 2-2 after the singles and went into the doubles with all to play for. Unfortunately we lost both doubles 6-0 and 6-4 so we lost the overall match by 4 games to 2.

Well done girls. You did ‘Alty Girls’ proud.
